How is Illicit Sex Good to the society?
Illicit sex – is it good for the society? If we analyze the word ‘Illicit sex’ – it describes sex which is committed without consent of authority or in denial of the rules. Now, the attention goes onto the point which asks us an important question? Who has made the rules and with what motive has one made these rules? Does the person who has made the rules, does not want us to enjoy? common sense says that only humans can follow rules.
Studies indicate that love is possible with a person who has more number of good habits, good attitude and behavior. A sum of good thought processes, character, behaviors, habits and actions is called a good consciousness. So a person with good consciousness can become a very good backbone for a life partner. If a person is indulging in Illicit sex then it means that he is a person of an unstable mind. A person with an unstable mind cannot become a role model in any respect. He cannot be accepted as a role model in any decorum of life. A person indulging in Illicit sex, directly means that he is not able to control the demands of his body and his mind is agitating him to an extent that he is forced to find a partner elsewhere.
As we know by experience that once such a habit starts it is increasingly hard to give up the same. So, we indulge more into it which reduces our interest towards our sincere life partner. Once this happens it does not take time for a happy family to become a divorced family since a family needs sincerity and devotion to run. If it gets worse, it can result in suicides, reduced interest of living life in the children of the family. Children resort to alcohols, and moreover a bad example has already been set in their life for them to weep on all over their life.
Above statements indicate that a person in Illicit sex cannot become a teacher or a role model and if such people increase in the society then there would be no people from where the younger generations would ape. Hence they would also live a life which is based just eating, mating, sleeping and defending which is a hellish situation. This is exactly what Arjuna is describing to Krishna in the first chapter of bhagvad gita. Hence is it is now established that a person in illicit sex is internally not a pure person.
Lets have a look now on the consequences of illicit sex on a bachelors life. The Vedic Literatures indicate that a bachelor’s life is the best time a person gets in a life. Since that is a time when his learning curve is good and their memory is very sharp. It is seen that a person loses his good habits like cleanliness, increasing restlessness, increasing dissatisfaction(subtly) and he loses his both internal and external cleanliness. Society clearly does not need such kind of people.
Now if we look at the successful people in the world, like A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhu pada who says that we are making the purpose of the human mind futile by using the mind for same things which animals are doing. He says that we have got a better mind than animals to question about our existence. Athato brahma jignasa. We should rise above the platform of the mind and situate himself on a spiritual platform. He says that spiritual platform is more attractive than a material sex platform and hence when one gets
a taste of the same he can become and peaceful, sober, intelligent person from whom valuable lessons of life can be learnt. He summarizes by saying that by chanting 16 rounds of hare Krishna Maha Mantra, and following the regulative principles of no meat eating, no intoxication, no illicit sex and no gambling which are bad and can be proved by similar arguments one can live a very divine life and go back to godhead where there is non-defective and permanent happiness. So, the only force which can work in the society is purity.
